STARGAZER:

A View Into My Universe

Remarkably Bright Creatures

I adore octopuses (ugly though they are), have loved Sally Field since the days of “The Flying Nun” (crap taste in TV, eh?) and enjoy a Hallmark-y story once in a while. The film was beautifully filmed, although in British Columbia, not Washington and was well-acted, and sentimental. It was also quite predictable, but sometimes we need that, don’t we? Because as most of us have discovered, life can be kind of a crapshoot. Now in other remarkable news:

I went for a walk yesterday under threatening skies, fully prepared with an umbrella and raincoat and didn’t get a raindrop on me.

Contrast that with today when we had torrential hail, and rain with a dose of lightning and thunder thrown in. It was way worse than it looks! The streets in my development were like rivers!

Of course, the temperature and dampness have meant that I’ve indulged by turning on the fireplace. My cat must be kept comfortable. šŸ˜‰

Ian can now eat solids; his first one was applesauce. He wasn’t sure about it at all. It’s certainly not the same texture as formula.

Isn’t he a charmer?

In the midst of the storm, Younger Daughter and I took the boys to a play place at the Mall. Unfortunately, there was some sort of pre-teen party going on and Poor Anders got trampled several times. Unsupervised and wild kids are a recipe for a cranky Margaret. To be fair, we also engaged with several very pleasant parents and polite and kind children. I really don’t know what I was doing here except being overly animated. Story of my life.

In the meantime, Older Daughter and family were at a very wet Tacoma Rainiers baseball game. The first pitch didn’t even get thrown out until 9:30 p.m.! Remarkably, Sharky and OD had a blast, in spite of OD’s description of the game: “I still think baseball is 90% boredom on a stick, but I was actually very into the other 10% when they were hitting and running.” Although she says she hates sports, as she learns more about them and as her sons (possibly) play them, I bet she’ll see more of the positives.

And there’s nothing better than being with family.

Tomorrow: A 6th birthday party with snakes, other reptiles and exotic bugs.

At least there will be pizza and cake.
