STARGAZER:

A View Into My Universe

This morning I was subjected to a lukewarm and disappointing mocha. As many of you know, I prefer very hot coffee, especially on a cool, wet day, so it wasn’t the best start to my day. I completely blame the barista who was focused on other things that could have easily waited. Changing the bed and cleaning out the litter box could have happened after coffee, right?

Sometimes, instead of a packed and exciting visit to Seattle, I have to look for highlights, like admiring my prolific orange lily. Yesterday, after looking at the weather forecast and seeing the rain coming, I rushed outside to mow both my front and back lawns. It was a lot for one afternoon. Today I walked in the rain with a broken umbrella. I finally managed a long overdue get together with my parents’ (and my) beloved former neighbor. At 91 years old, she’s still a kick! I discovered that Season 2 of “Patience” is streaming on my PBS Passport. I’ve already watched two episodes. 🙂 I finished my June Book Club read, “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” and I’m still trying to figure it out. Is it satire? Is it supposed to be funny? And have I ever had a prime? 😂 Although I’m lukewarm about this daily minutiae, every day can’t be (or shouldn’t be?) filled with activity and thrilling events.

I did find some eye shadow for Older Daughter’s ’80s themed birthday party; now I need to figure out how to use it. I haven’t worn eye shadow since the ’80s!

This is Sharky’s last week of kindergarten; he’s immersed in all those fun (for children) end of the year festivities, like this color run.

Older Daughter didn’t have such a great time at the Color Run and limped off to her house for some first aid.

This week will get much busier with babysitting and a dinner with my brother who recently returned from a lengthy vacation. I’m still feeling kind of meh about my schedule right now but isn’t that normal for most of us? I find excitement highly overrated. Contentment in the small moments is my preference.

“Coffee Boy” (my husband) began bringing me coffee on March 13, 2020, my first day of forever telecommuting until I finally made myself retire. So I still expect it. Usually it’s too hot for me but that has more with the cup form factor than anything.

I use eyeshadow (if I’m going to a restaurant or something) but I use various gray-blue shades and it’s more to well, I dunno how to describe it but combined with mascara, I’d like to think I look a bit younger. But I’m probably fooling myself. As a teenager/20-something, experimenting with color was so much fun. Purple? Yes.

I like to sip my coffee so if it starts out lukewarm, it cools off way too fast. Do you still get deliveries from Coffee Boy? I stopped eye make-up when it irritated my contacts, then thought “why bother?” when I switched over to glasses. I wear lipstick for the same reason–I think it makes me look younger AND I’m sure I’m fooling myself! 🙂

LOL, I was trying to figure out why your barista stopped to clean the cat box, then figured it out. HA! I have that person with tea, sometimes I get distracted and it’s lukewarm when I get to it. I don’t need it piping hot, but I do not want it tepid by any means.

    Your orange lilies are gorgeous!

Some years my lilies do really well; I’ve been trying to fertilize them with bulb fertilizer, although the stuff does smell VILE. I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets distracted. I could have steamed my milk more to heat it up, but by that time, I wanted my mocha! So…my own fault.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CJrq1HdLDTk <– That's a link to a quick YouTube video about applying theatrical purple eyeshadow! Lol It *might* be helpful? Or, search for purple eyeshadow application there and see what pops up. I really don't wear eyeshadow much these days either, since so many things irritate my eyes! Gah.

Yeah, "meh" for rather boring rainy days. I've been trying to get into my Book Club book, which is Little Women. Did you ever read it? I'm not even 5% into it and I'm rolling my eyes out of my head over the histrionics.

Thank you! I will watch it for tips! Should I use mascara too? What do you think? I’ve been super busy (and will be later this week) so I’m working at enjoying today’s lazy and boring pace. The writing style of these classics is difficult to adjust to. Miss Jean Brodie is a real PITA.

Oh yes! Definitely mascara should accompany the eyeshadow. You want your eyes to POP and mascara is the magic for that. (Eyeliner, too, but that’s a tricky road to travel.)

I would probably poke myself in the eye trying to do eyeliner!

P.S. Your orange lilies are STUNNING!! What a fantastic splash of color!

They are having a banner year. I hope the Stargazer will too! I wish the dead rhody were gone; apparently, the guy who was supposed to take it down has hurt his back. 🙁

We had a lot of rain, six inches in two or three days and the grass has shot up. I just finished cutting it. If I leave it longer, I can’t find the dog turds and I really don’t want to step in a dog turd:)
Your lilies are so beautiful. Do you get scarlet lily beetle there? I gave up on lilies because of the beetle.
    Have a good week:)

Six inches–wow! It’s hard to cut thick tall grass and the dog turds add to the challenge. When we had dog(s), I would try to pick up all of them before I mowed, but I would usually miss one or more and run over them with the lawn mower wheels. Such a nasty smell! I’ve never heard of scarlet lily beetle. I’ve already lost my rhododendron and am losing my petunia to rabbits, so I sure hope my lilies hold out! Hope you have a good week too.
