If anyone out there reads this, I am venting and not requesting to debate you…you will understand more when I explain. I took the unprecedented step today of blocking a sender in my e-mail program. The weird part about it is that it’s my aunt and here’s the quickie version why. For the past four years I have politely requested (off and on) that she not send me any political forwards because the ones she sends are almost always false and ALWAYS to smear someone she doesn’t agree with. Or they are untrue scare mails that can easily be verified by checking a hoax site like snopes or truthorfiction. Her efforts have ranged from Congress doesn’t pay social security, Oliver North warned Al Gore and the rest of the US about Osama Bin Laden,etc… I have politely(and more forcefully) suggested that she verify her forwards before sending them on; I have told her how unfair and damaging I think it is to spread untruths. I have even directed her to a great Christian hoax site, truthminers, but to no avail. In the past couple of weeks, I have found my energy sapped by her illogic and inability to accept anything she doesn’t want to believe…even if it is a provable fact. Today I got this: (I had responded to one of her earlier articles with facts showing that France is not 20% Muslim as it claimed, but 7%–she proceeded to rant about how despicable the French are and we need to pull our troops out of there right away. Troops in France? I think she’s confused between France and Germany.) This is typical of what she’s been writing lately and I’ve had it:

message is. I hope you are as down on the Germans, ABSOLUTELY and I am so
happy
that we are pulling out of there. the Canadians They are such a bunch of hop
head, even their leader, that they will destroy their country in time. Go up
to
Vancouver and see all the hop heads begging for money and they are ‘loaded’,
really sickening. When we were up there, many people were so discusted with
their
new leader and what he wants to do. Let it be—let all the hophead & doggers
go up there.
Anyway, I have concluded that my pet peeves in politics are:1. People who cannot discuss an issue intelligently and rationally–no matter what their side. 2. Hypocrites who condemn others for having affairs, going bankrupt, living off welfare or SSI,etc… when they or members of their families have done those things. 3. Anyone who smears another by lies, gossip, or innuendo to obfuscate the real issues facing our country TODAY, NOW! ( I love the word obfuscate!) Well, I could probably think of more to write, but this is enough venting for today. I think I need to try to jazz up my site and improve my banner. You are my heroes(heroines?) Nancy and Tonya!
