A View Into My Universe

Anderson Island

anderson_island_mountainLike my friend Tonya and Harstine Island, I feel so much more at peace when near the water. My husband and I decided to buy a building lot on Anderson Island several years ago; it was a very positive thing! I will now do my top ten things on Anderson Island:

10. The ferry ride in good weather can be wonderful–seeing all the other islands, watching the barge ferry from Mc Neil Island Prison pass us, chatting with other interesting people on the boat.
9. The Anderson Island General store has such friendly staff and they stock all sorts of microbrews. They also sell homemade salads and their Baked Potato Potato salad is beyond words.
8.Getting away from it all in a tent while having fully functional bathroom and shower close by. It’s like roughing it for us old folks with teeny bladders.
7. Hiking the trails around Anderson, especially Andy Anderson Marine Park down to the water, has been fun. We meander along the beach, wade in the water and collect stones(yes, agates, T) and shells. There are also some really neat black salamanders down there.
6. Playing tennis is one of our favorite family activities–my husband and I love to try to slam the ball down each other’s throats. He can place the ball very well, but I can run and we always get lots of exercise.
5. Nothing can be better than evening around the campfire, roasting marshmallows, playing cards or games, sitting, having a brew or two and chatting. Life feels so simple and easy under the stars.
4. Oh, dinner on the campstove or a homecooked breakfast…it is scrumptious and takes total focus, working together. I hate doing the dishes though!
3. Being with friends there and with our two girls is one of the few opportunities to be uninterrupted by the drudgery of life. We can really focus on each other instead of all of us going in different directions.
2. I love seeing my husband so relaxed away from work and he really needs it. (self-employed and works constantly) He loves to camp and would go every weekend, if he could.
1. As for me, I look forward to the small but precious moments like sitting at the lake or beach with the sun on my face and a good book in my lap.

P.S. We’re going out tomorrow on the 12:00 ferry!

Ahhhh…. ain’t it great to have a lovely place to go and hang out? A “happy” place! We’re going down Sunday just for the day. And then over Labor Day weekend! I envy you for having showers, though!

I’m so proud of you! Your banner is great! On my computer screen, the “l” in “Experimental” falls off the edge, but it’s probably my monitor.

The banner looks fine on mine!
You and Tonya and your talk of the islands!
I think I’m planning a trip! I would love to see those agates!
I was only out to the west coast once, CA – Laguna Beach. My first husband and I drowe cross country to Idaho once, but we never made it to the coast.
