Today was our first day officially back in teacher mode, but without students. (a relative breeze) I did, however, have to sit in meetings! I needed to actually think and make decisions!! Summer is intoxicating, but feels just long enough to make my brain atrophy. I am excited to have all French again, after several years of teaching French and other languages. (lots of lesson plans!) I am thrilled to see my friends every day and yes, most of my students. I am very happy to look and feel pretty decent most days. I won’t sleep tonight because I’ll be too nervous that I won’t wake up to my alarm. (it’s never happened yet in 24 years, but I still obsess over it…) I hope my own two will go to school tomorrow with positive attitudes or at least, will make the best of it. I can’t believe it’s Ashley’s last year of high school;how did she get so old? (how did I?) I am thankful that she has done such a great job so far in school. How did she become such a talented artist when I can’t even finger paint? My baby is in 9th grade and growing up too fast. I am proud of what a fine student, musician and athlete she is. I thank her for the hugs too! I am working hard at respecting the girls’ affection boundaries–it’s very difficult for me! I am glad that I have my friends who understand how odd it feels to be parenting at this stage–and how frustrating it can be!
