Reunion Festivities-Part II

Our formal reunion festivities went off very smoothly as far as I was concerned. (Kingfisher Cove had a nasty car breakdown en route which will probably appear on her blog!) I don’t remember people being as friendly or mingling with so many different people at the twenty. I hope that means that we’ve all grown more accepting and caring as we’ve gotten to this place in our lives. (but I wax too philosophical, and I don’t want to do that!) The food was delicious, the room spacious, although a bit too hot, the drinks were decent. They didn’t have Hefeweisen so I made do with Red Hook Ale, a tasty substitute. The Power Point presentation was photos of us as high school students; the pictures were lousy, but I got a lump in my throat anyway looking at those young faces. Some were sullen, some smiling, many of the boys had long hair, almost all the girls did…people called out names before the names flashed on the screen and quite a few of the names I didn’t recognize at all, nor did anyone else. So, I wonder, what happened to those people? The deceased classmates section was thankfully short, but full of memories. Among the examples, Sheldon S. was a cute, funny guy whom most of us adored;he died in a military helicopter crash right out of high school. Tom C. was a great musician and had some kind of fatal heart problem while in his forties. At our 40 year reunion, I’m wondering how much longer that list will be and naturally, hoping I’m not on it! I’m including a couple of photos–my husband and I and then…THE BEAUTIFUL couple. You know, the guy everyone wants to date and the girl every guy wants. I don’t know if Tonya will agree or not; I suspect she will!
