This sticker from a friend is a mantra to live by. Otherwise, this week has been eerily quiet. I’ve refrained from reaching out, since I’m tired of trying to be the peacemaker, the perhaps overinvolved and caught in the middle but well-meaning person. My parents used to say, “No good deed goes unpunished.” It’s taken me too long to learn this. In the meantime, thanks to those of you who have commiserated, empathized and given support. I’m not alone. People can be complicated and sometimes secretive which means that situations can go sideways. Another fitting saying, “Expect the unexpected”
In nothing unexpected, John has caught a man cold, probably due to the ocean trip where two of his three granddaughters was sick or getting over something. One was actively miserable. My own cold was virtually non-existent at the time, so I don’t think it was me–but it could have been. It was John’s choice to allow me along though. No guilt here! Because he’s miserable with a cold, it will be a while until I see him; that allows me to figure out how to explain what transpired in the San Juans. It’s way too long for a text.

Since I collect sweatshirts and tees, I had to indulge in these new ones. We stayed at Lakedale resort; although I rarely wear non-hooded sweatshirts (it’s rainy here, y’all), the choices were limited. The back of the tee-shirt is prettier than the front and the color that I preferred doesn’t go well with all my pants. Oh, well. As I told a friend recently, I’m very into graphic tees and sweatshirts because they represent where I’ve been, what I like or what I believe. They’re memories of trips or places I’ve visited. My friend is the same!

This is the front of the tee at my eye doctor appointment. My vision hasn’t changed much, my retinal wrinkle is doing OK and my eyes are healthy. It was SO expensive though! I do have top of the line lens in my glasses although I decided to only replace the ones in my newer frames and not my spare glasses. I remember my mom saying, “I’m not made of money!” It’s been a costly couple of months for various reasons.

I’m enjoying the color in my front flowerbed and not mourning the absence of my rhododendron (Old Copper) very much. You can’t really tell how much that Stargazer lily is leaning forward though, in spite of my pathetic efforts to stake it up.

How I would love to be able to paint these flowers! They are spectacular.

On my back deck, I have a white stargazer lily getting ready to bloom. I never knew of the existence of white ones until a commenter pointed it out last year. Excuse the state of my back lawn–I’ve given up on watering. And until John is better, I’ll have to ignore the deck table out in the grass. LOL
