My daughter’s friend gave her a burned Dixie Chicks CD and I have been suffering through it for the past two days, listening in agony to the travesty of Landslide, as NOT done by Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.(It was one of my all time favorite songs in college and frankly, can’t be copied successfully as far as I’m concerned.) I can appreciate that the Chicks sing well, have pretty melodies and meaningful lyrics–but oh, I sure can’t handle the twang. Alison’s favorite song is Traveling Soldier and since I don’t listen to lyrics, all I hear is steel guitar and some very nice caterwauling. I think I’ll make her ride in the car listening to my lovely Joaquin Rodrigo CD; that will be my revenge!

Traveling soldier really is a nice song. This from somebody who doesn’t even like country music!

Hi and thanks for your note. Landslide is a favorite of mine but I haven’t heard the new version. Sometimes that stuff is fun. Everything old is new. I like your site and I’m going to add it to my favorite reads.

That’s so interesting about not listening to lyrics – people seem to be one way or the other. I listen to every syllable, but both my husband and daughter say they don’t listen to them at all.
