It’s become clear to me that looking for small miracles and beauties is the way to go. My neighbor who had the stroke did survive but is not going to make it. His wife and son have made the decision to put him on comfort care; it won’t be long. There was no big miracle for him, sadly. His son will start college at the University of Washington in the fall while his wife has no family here, nor does she work to my knowledge. We neighbors are trying to figure out ways to help and support them. My friend across the street has two more months of chemo to (hopefully) keep his Stage 4 colon cancer from recurring. He’s young enough to be my son. In the midst of all this emotional turmoil, I’m focusing on time with my loved ones and trying to keep cool in our heat wave. Mid-90s today, YUCK!

Dinner with John: freshly caught pink salmon, asparagus with a balsamic drizzle, baked potatoes with sour cream and bacon bits and Caesar salad. Ice cream for dessert. I found lots of good in this meal! Note: I need to get back to walking and even running at this rate…

Sitting outside on my now comfortable deck (cools down nicely in the evening), John and I were treated to some lovely clouds and sky.
Mari continues to work her way back to “normal.” That means eating more, using the litter box more and curling up in her new favorite chair at my mom’s dining room table. Her former spot was the one right behind there; I don’t know why she now prefers the closer one. Perhaps to keep an eye on me?
Now to get ready for a lake day at a friend’s with Older Daughter and her Littles. Swimsuit or shorts? Either way, it will be horrifying to behold. LOL
